The longer I work with clay the more I want to explore its malleable qualities. I love to poke and prod, sometimes until I ruin a piece, just to see exactly how far I can push those plastic boundaries.
Lately, I’ve taken to making thumb pots as well as throwing and feel compelled to stick small balls of clay on them – I’m not sure why. A full stop? The symmetry of a perfect sphere? Perhaps it is simply the joy of sticking clay to clay and not knowing exactly what I am creating. I’ve progressed to lids now, lids that are supported by…yes, small balls! (Watch this space for the finished pieces.)
The photos of the thrown pots were taken just after I threw them to capture the marvellous plastic properties of clay.
